BEAT THE HEAT! COME CHILL WITH US!
KSA would like to thank all the participants of this amazing day!
STAY TUNED FOR NEXT YEARS AMAZING SEMINAR SERIES.
Another fabulous KB Day at KSA
At KSA we have created a unique combination that exceeds the standards of traditional learn to skate programs.
In our first year of operation we accepted only a maximum of 30 skaters into our program (compared to 60 in most clubs ). We are very fortunate to have found 6 amazing PROFESSIONAL coaches that shared our vision plus several trained program assistance and still offered an affordable program (which included the loan of skates and helmets) without the need for mandatory fundraising, hidden fees or required volunteering.
Within a few months KSA was recognized as one of Skate Ontario’s Award of Excellence CanSkate programs. In addition to small group sizes, quality instruction, immediate correction and ongoing improvement our program continues to include many personal touches: a weekly welcome letter/reminders, ongoing incentives and progress updates, and theme/fun days just to name a few!
Owner and Head Coach.
After skating professionally for one season Sharon began coaching in Kingston over twenty years ago. During this time Sharon has coached Provincial and National level athletes in all disciplines.
Ms. Nixon is a Level 4 NCCP National High Performance Coach in Kingston, On. and enjoys working with local hockey plays as a skating skills specialist.
In September of 2018 Sharon opened Kingston’s newest skating school - The Kingston Skating Academy (KSA). The private skating school offers on and off-ice training events for skaters of all levels and boasts a CanSkate & CanSkate@School program that has received the Advanced Status Accreditation from Skate Ontario.
In addition to coaching, Sharon assists Skate Canada as a Regional Coach Developer/Evaluator and acts as a Club Resource Member and CanSkate Specialist for Skate Ontario.
Away from the rink Sharon owns and operates student rentals and, on occasion, teaches courses related to deviance, crime and criminal justice at the local college and university. Sharon lives in Glenburnie with her husband and two boys ages 11 and 15. They are enjoying the outdoors and the (slightly) slower pace of country living with their sheep-a-doodle Tilly and Havanese pup Chester.

Hockey is a very complex sport that requires several components to come together as one. Each skill is developed and then combined to create a more efficient and competitive hockey player.
We believe in the pyramid of hockey training. The base of the pyramid needs to start with skating skills. Hockey skating is a complex motor skill that is an intense, demanding athletic activity.
Skating is to hockey as the swing is to golf, the throw is to baseball! If you can’t skate, you can’t play.
Our program focuses on edge control, balance, agility, maneuverability, body alignment, proper flexion and extension and how to use all in the game.
We are the only program to be recognized by Skate Canada, Skate Ontario and Hockey Canada.
